I worked to secure planning permission for approximately 480 student bed spaces in Dublin in 2018 and 2019. These developments have been secured on behalf of capital equity funds responding to the national identified need for purpose built student accommodation in Dublin. I have also secured planning permission for amendment applications and compliance submissions for student accommodation schemes previously granted permission. A number of these examples are noted below.
- Highfield Park, Rathdown Road – 289 no. bed spaces across 2 no. blocks secured under the recently introduced fast-track Strategic Housing Development by An Bord Pleanála. Comprised of the regeneration of a brownfield industrial site adjacent to a residential area and highly accessible to the Dublin Institute of Technology Grangegorman Campus, as well as a Luas tram stop.
- Parnell Street, Dublin 1 – 257 no. bed spaces across 5 no. blocks including the reuse of a protected structure in Dublin City centre. The propsoals comprised the regeneration of outdated industrial buildings and redevelopment with a high density scheme with landscaping at ground and roof level in close proximity to public transport and third level institutions.
- 274 North Circular Road, Dublin 7 – A total of 430 no. student bed spaces over 9 no. blocks secured following a third party appeal to An Bord Pleanála. Amendment applications approved by Dublin City Council for reconfiguration of Block E and the refurbishment of an historic water tower on the site. Management of compliance submissions to address conditions pre-commencement.
- 25-29 & 58-64 Dominick Street Upper, Dublin 7 – a total of 324 no. student bed spaces secured at 2 no. locations situated opposite within Dublin’s north inner city, in close proximity to third level institutions and public transport link. Amendment applications and pre-commencement compliance submission successfully management.
